We are a nine-room hotel. When a room is held for you it is genuinely unavailable to anyone else, which is why our deposit and cancellation terms are firmer than a large resort's. We would rather set them out plainly here than surprise you later.

A 25% deposit is taken when you book, and it is non-refundable. The remaining room charges plus tax are charged automatically to the card on file 30 days before your arrival date.
If you book inside 30 days of arrival, the full amount is charged at the time of booking.
Deposits are not refunded. What happens next depends on when you tell us:
Cancellations must be sent by email to [email protected]. A cancellation is not in effect until you have received written confirmation back from us. Please don't rely on a phone call or a WhatsApp message alone — if you'd rather cancel by phone, follow it with an email so there is a record for both of us.
We know these terms are strict. If something serious has happened, write to us anyway and tell us what's going on — we are a small, family-run hotel and we would rather hear from you than not.
Check-in is between 3:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Check-out is at 12:00 pm. Early check-in and late check-out depend on the night's occupancy, may carry a charge, and need to be arranged with us in advance — please ask rather than assume, particularly in high season.
The drive up is unlit and unmarked. If your flight lands late, tell us and we will help you plan the last leg.
El Castillo is an adults-oriented hotel. We do not accommodate guests under the age of 16. The property is built into a steep hillside with open terraces, unfenced pools and a good deal of exposed stonework; it is not a safe environment for small children, and the quiet is a large part of what our guests come for.
The maximum is two guests per bedroom unless the room description says otherwise. If you are hoping to fit a third person into a room, ask us first — we will tell you honestly whether it works.
Every room has a safe. We cannot accept responsibility for valuables left in rooms, so please use it.
We are surrounded by rainforest, and the wildlife does not observe our boundaries. Please don't feed the monkeys or coatis, keep balcony doors closed when you're out, and don't leave food on the terraces.
